Shooting Day
I got to shoot my New Model Army replica for the first time in months today. It was fun, but blackpowder sucks to clean up...
Update: After writing this, I heard Charlton Heston, a huge gun rights activist, died today. Coincidental, and ironic. But in honor, I'll dedicate my target shoot to him post-fact. Here's to the NRA and 2nd amendment supporters everywhere!

Do use a commerical black powder solvent, like Cabella's, or soapy water like the Union Army?
Mix of both. But without the soap. Depends on how fouled up it is.
Can't imagine having to clean it in the field like those guys did. Yikes.
Sweet piece!
thanks for shooting the contest, too.
Darn shame about Mr. Heston.
So is Bob Barr going to run?
Don't know too much about guns, but that's a pretty spiffy looking one ^_^
RIP Charlton Heston, he will be missed.
I thought about Charlton Heston yesterday when I shot that snake, Robert. If it wasn't for the NRA and people like him the liberals would probably have taken our guns away by now. I don't know how I would deal with my snake problem. They won't pay any attention to an eviction notice! LOL!
Of course they can't take away my antique guns, but shooting snakes with a six-shooter or a German Mauzer is a bit ridiculous and much harder to do than with my shotgun, which is registered.
I just take my Colt Navy into it's three component parts and boil it for a while.
When done, spray the cr@p ot of it with WD-40 and 3in1 oil.
But then, I have a cheap Pedrosolli, to.....
Interesting note about the Battle of Brandywine.. the date; September 11, (1777) and Washington received a serious woopin' because of a lack of intel... kinda like the 9-11 in our lifetime... better intel and intel agencies actually working together would have prevented it... what a country.. :)
